The President of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Kula, Damjan Miljanić, sent greetings on the occasion of Statehood Day. The message reads:
Today’s date is the most important on Serbia’s political, cultural and historical calendar. In addition to being Statehood Day, it is also Serbia’s Constitution Day. By celebrating today, we celebrate two sacred values for which our ancestors fought: freedom and the Serbian state. This holiday was established in memory of the day the First Serbian Uprising began in Orašac in 1804. It is a day of remembrance for the beginning of the Serbian Revolution.
This is also Constitution Day, commemorating Serbia’s first Constitution—the Sretenje Constitution, adopted in Kragujevac in 1835. It is an opportunity to remember our ancestors with gratitude and respect and pay tribute to them. Today unites our entire people, because we share the same freedom-loving spirit, passed down through the centuries.
Throughout our history, as today, we have faced great challenges, so let us be no less courageous or wise than our ancestors.
Happy Statehood Day, Serbia!
Damjan Miljanić
President of the Provisional Authority of the Municipality of Kula
