A weekend packed with sports

A busy sporting weekend lies ahead, highlighted by the First Handball League derby in Crvenka, where Crvenka face Kikinda. It is a derby because second-placed Crvenka meet league leaders Kikinda. Encouraged by their win in the spring opener in Vrbas, Crvenka say they respect the leaders but will give their all, with the help of their fans, to win and close the gap to just one point. The Crvenka–Kikinda derby will be played tomorrow at the Slobodan Čile Mišković Sports Hall, starting at 18. Our other First Men’s League representative, Sivac, host ŽSK from Žabalj. Sivac are fighting to avoid relegation and every point is precious, so they too are counting on home advantage and predicting a win. The match between Sivac and ŽSK from Žabalj will be played on Sunday at the Crvenka sports hall, starting at 16. Our third top-flight team, the Laki women’s handball team from Crvenka, are travelling to Mokrin to face Mladost from Srpska Crnja. The match in Mokrin will be played tomorrow, starting at 18.

The spring half of the football championship in the Sombor District League begins this weekend, with five clubs from our municipality taking part. Lipar’s footballers will be first to take the field, visiting Sombor tomorrow to face ŽAK. Our other representatives will play their matches on Sunday. Hajduk Junior will host Stari Grad from Bačka Palanka at the stadium in Kula. The Kula side are favorites, and what will make this match memorable is that admission will be charged at 100 dinars, with all the money collected going toward the development of the club’s youth football school. Rusin from Ruski Krstur will visit Krila Krajine in Bačka Palanka. In a bottom-of-the-table clash in Mladenovo, fourteenth-placed Budućnost will face fifteenth-placed Polet from Sivac, while Mladost from Kruščić, our fifth representative, will visit BSK in Bački Brestovac. All these matches will begin at 14 hours and 30 minutes.
